Chelsea were embarrassed by Bayern Munich at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night.

The Blues went into the game as underdogs, hoping to pull off a shock against the Bundesliga champions.

But it wasn't to be.

In reality, the gulf in class was clear from the first minute and although Chelsea held on for 45 minutes, it all fell apart in the second half.

Serge Gnabry scored a quickfire double before Robert Lewandowski rounded off a 3-0 win.

The Polish striker was on fire, producing the assists for both of Gnabry's goals too.

Incredibly, it seems he did all that while injured.

On Wednesday, Bayern confirmed Lewandowski fractured his tibia in the 36th minute of Tuesday's fixture and played on through injury.

He's expected to be sidelined for the next four weeks, meaning he'll miss the return leg against Chelsea

But the damage is already done. Playing with an injured knee, Lewandowski still managed to contribute three goals at Stamford Bridge.

The man really is a machine.

For Chelsea though, the result was so humiliating, that Frank Lampard is apparently planning to sell EIGHT players this summer

"It was a harsh lesson," the Blues boss said of the defeat to Bayern, before confirming he wants to buy in the summer.

"There's no point looking at anything other than being real on where we are, fighting for the top four because we want to improve in the summer."

What Chelsea would do to find a striker like Lewandowski. The Bayern man has arguably been the best forward in Europe this season, eclipsing Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo at times.

He has a ridiculous 39 goals in 32 appearances, including 11 in just six Champions League games.

Is it really much of a surprise that Lewandowski still managed to destroy Chelsea on just one leg with those kinds of stats?
