The Premier League have today unveiled their plans to launch an official Hall of Fame which is set to “recognise and celebrate the exceptional skill and talent of players who have graced the competition since its inception in 1992.”The highest honour in the Hall of Fame will be considered ‘Membership of the Premier League Hall of Fame’ which will be awarded to players by the league.The first two inductees to take their place in the Hall of Fame will be revealed on March 19 and subsequently commemorated.A shortlist of nominees is set to be announced at the same time. Fans will be invited to vote to help select the additional list of former players to join the Hall of Fame class of 2020."Since 1992, the Premier League has been home to world-class players who have defined generations and provided us with compelling football season after season," Premier League chief executive Richard Masters said.

"A place in the Premier League Hall of Fame is reserved for the very best. It will be an occasion for our fans around the world to look back over the years and help us celebrate some truly exceptional playing careers.

The Hall of Fame is set to be sponsored by Budweiser, who are the official beer partner of the Premier League.

This multi-year partnership will include Hall of Fame sponsorship for the contract’s duration.

The Premier League has stated that to be eligible for the Hall of Fame, players must be retired and only a player’s career in the Premier League will be considered.

Each inductee will receive a personalised medal with the year of their induction engraved on it.
