Many wrestling fans on social media are annoyed and angry with WWE following the main event of Super ShowDown which saw Goldberg win the Universal Championship.

All it took from Goldberg to win his Universal title match vs ‘The Fiend’ Bray Wyatt was four spears and a jackhammer.

Now in his second Universal Championship reign, the WCW icon is walking into WrestleMania with a lot of animosity from the fans.

However, despite how doom and gloom it may seem in WWE right now, there are some positives we can take away from Goldberg’s win over The Fiend, especially in the bigger picture.

Here are five positive takeaways from Goldberg’s victory over Wyatt in the main event of Super ShowDown.

Roman Reigns vs The Fiend saved for later

Roman Reigns vs Wyatt for the Universal title had been rumoured for the past couple of months. Now, it looks like it’s not going to happen.

While some fans might be gutted about this, it’s actually a good thing, as WWE now has more time to build towards the eventual meeting of The Big Dog and The Fiend when it takes place in the future.

We’re just over 30 days away from WrestleMania. That’s just about enough time to give for a match of this magnitude, but now WWE has more time for it, they can truly give the future feud the passion and care it deserves.

When Reigns and Wyatt do eventually meet, it could turn out to be one of the biggest matches of the year thanks to the added attention and added time it has received to make sure it’s booked right.

Goldberg vs Reigns - Spear vs Spear, Era vs Era

Another positive from Goldberg’s victory over Wyatt is that it has opened the door for a dream match of sorts between Goldberg and Reigns, one of the rumoured clashes for WrestleMania 36.

Already being dubbed ‘Spear vs Spear’ since both superstars use the move as their finisher, it wouldn’t feel right to book this match if the WCW icon was coming off a loss to The Fiend, so he had to win the title.

At the same time, Reigns is the favourites to win the Elimination Chamber match that will see the winner face the Universal Champion at WrestleMania.

There isn’t anyone else on the SmackDown roster that is being booked in a way to deserve that spot at Elimination Chamber. As a result, The Big Dog has to be in the Universal title picture.

Tac on the fact this is a match with two icons of two generations going up against each other in the ring with the same finisher and you have yourself a dream clash. Spear vs Spear, Era vs Era.

John Cena's path to Wyatt avoids Elimination Chamber

Goldberg’s win at Super ShowDown also means John Cena now has a clearer pathway to face Wyatt at this year’s Showcase of Immortals.

In order for Cena to face The Fiend if he was still Universal Champion, the 16-time world champion would have had to win the Elimination Chamber match to become the number one contender for the title.

While it wouldn’t have been on the same levels, this kind of Elimination Chamber victory for Cena would have felt like Batista’s Royal Rumble win from 2014; an undeserving one since he hasn’t wrestled for WWE for the past year.

No one was predicting Cena to win the Elimination Chamber, but in order for him to face Wyatt at WrestleMania, that’s what he would have had to do.

Now The Fiend is no longer Universal Champion, the path to book this match is much clearer.

Cena can give The Fiend a mega win in multiple ways

Reigns vs The Fiend is going to be an awesome match when it is finally booked, but right now, it’s second-best to what a match with Cena can do for Wyatt inside, and outside of WWE.

Since becoming a part-time performer, Cena has advanced his Hollywood career and has become more well known in the public eye. The attention on him expands well beyond WWE now.

The 16-time world champion has always attracted more attention to the superstars he faces in the ring. Now he’s well known outside WWE, more people will be paying attention to his match at WrestleMania, something which WWE can capitalise upon for Wyatt.

If his rumoured match with Wyatt goes ahead, this will allow WWE to showcase The Fiend to the world and hopefully bring more fans back to wrestling thanks to his uniqueness. More attention will be on The Fiend from a global audience than what there is right now.

In reality, WWE wouldn’t have been able to achieve the same goal if The Fiend was facing Reigns at WrestleMania, as Cena has a bigger fanbase than The Big Dog outside of WWE.

A chance to create a WrestleMania legacy for The Fiend

There’s still an opportunity for WWE to create a new star in The Fiend at WrestleMania 36 that arguably wouldn’t have been possible without him losing the Universal title to Goldberg.

If Wyatt vs Reigns went ahead at WrestleMania, there’s a strong chance The Big Dog would have won and captured the Universal title, leaving The Fiend defeated and down in the middle of the ring.

Instead, now Wyatt is possibly facing Cena, there’s an opportunity for WWE to build a legacy for The Fiend, and start a WrestleMania streak of sorts for the character. Sure, Wyatt has already lost at the Showcase of Immortals in the past, but not as The Fiend.

A big win against a 16-time world champion this year could be the start of something spectacular for the character that could be celebrated for years to come.

WWE has the chance to create a legacy for The Fiend at WrestleMania if he faces Cena that arguably wouldn’t have been possible if he was up against Reigns instead.

Although it still might be tough to accept now, Goldberg beating The Fiend at Super ShowDown might be the best booking decision for several superstars in WWE as we approach WrestleMania 36.
