A little over a week after his one-sided mauling at the hands of Tyson Fury, Deontay Wilder's team have invoked their man's rematch clause - with a third fight between the pair seemingly set for this summer.

The "Bronze Bomber" was handily defeated by Fury inside seven rounds of their WBC heavyweight championship showdown at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas last weekend, with Wilder being dropped twice in the process.

The loser of the bout had the contractual right to call for an immediate rematch, but the emphatic manner of his defeat left many wondering whether Wilder would exercise this option.

However,  per a report in The Metro, Fury's co-promoter Bob Arum revealed that Wilder has indeed insisted upon a third meeting with the 'Gypsy King', with the fight scheduled for just a few months time.

"Wilder and his representatives formerly notified us last night that they have accepted the rematch and are going forward...‘It’s going to happen in the summer, before the Olympics. Middle of July".

Whilst Wilder, a reigning world champion for more than five years before his loss to Fury, no doubt deserves the chance to regain his title, the fight that fans really want to see is the all-British clash between Fury and Anthony Joshua.

In the days since Fury's victory, Joshua's promoter Eddie Hearn has stated that he wants to make the unification fight as soon as possible.

There are, though, a few roadblocks to making that fight a reality. The first of these would be the fact that Joshua is obligated by the IBF to make a mandatory defence of his championships against Bulgarian Kubrat Pulev, a fighter also now promoted by Arum.

The Joshua Vs Pulev clash is tentatively scheduled for June 20 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Although most are anticipating a Joshua victory in order to set up the blockbuster Fury bout, Arum has very different ideas - believing that his man can deliver an upset.

"I told Eddie Hearn, I said 'Stop looking at a Tyson Fury fight this year. You’ve got to fight Pulev in June, and Joshua is going to get knocked on his arse'.

"I guarantee you that Pulev will knockout Joshua like Tyson Fury knocked out Wilder."

As the last couple of years have shown, anything can happen in the wildly unpredictable heavyweight division. Joshua and Fury are undoubtedly the top dogs of the weight class, but hungry challengers such as Wilder and Pulev exist aplenty.

We all want to finally see Joshua Vs Fury.

There would seem, however, to be several rounds to be fought elsewhere before that fight can become a reality.
