Real Madrid beat Barcelona 2-0 in El Clasico on Sunday night. But the match itself was far from a classic. Vinicius Jr scored the first goal, squeezing his shot past Marc-Andre ter Stegen in the 71st minute before substitute Mariano Diaz added a second in injury time. There were very few big chances throughout the 90 minutes, with both sides defending well in the most important game of the La Liga season so far. Los Blancos' defender Marcelo is certainly one who will draw praise for his contribution at the back - and for one moment in particular.Just minutes after Real went 1-0 up, Lionel Messi raced over the halfway line and was bearing down on goal.Usually, he sticks the ball in the back of the net in that situation. But he didn't on Sunday, thanks to a brilliant last-ditch tackle from Marcelo. The Brazilian did brilliantly in catching up with Messi to make the challenge, before celebrating like he'd scored a goal of his own. Check it out below:

Fantastic stuff from Marcelo. The celebrations are well deserved too because that could well have been just as important as scoring at the other end.

Real Madrid did very well to keep Messi quiet all night, actually.

After securing victory, Los Blancos are now top of La Liga, one point clear of Barca. The title race is very much on.

This El Clasico result could go a long way to helping Madrid win the league for the first time since 2017.

It's theirs to lose now, but with the Blaugrana just one point behind, don't count them out just yet.
