Inter Miami made their long-awaited MLS debut on Sunday night. The franchise, co-owned by David Beckham, made their bow in front of a host of famous faces, playing away to Los Angeles FC. Becks and his family, celebrity chef Gordon Ramsey and actress Liv Taylor were amongst the supporters. Things didn't quite go to plan on the pitch for Miami though, as they suffered a 1-0 defeat in their first-ever MLS fixture. Former Arsenal winger Carlos Vela scored the only goal - but it was one worthy of winning any game. He dribbled past four defenders before brilliantly chipping the ball over Miami's goalkeeper and into the net from the edge of the box. Check it out below:

Beckham wouldn't have wanted to see his side concede a goal, but there was absolutely nothing his team could do about that.

Despite suffering a 1-0 defeat in their MLS debut, the former Manchester United and LA Galaxy midfielder praised his players at full-time.

"Very proud moment for our club today and the team did us proud," he said, per Sky Sports.

"It's been a long journey but this is only the beginning. To Diego [the manager], the team and our entire staff... we should be very proud how far we have come and what the future holds.

"Exciting times ahead."

Two more blockbuster fixtures follow for Inter Miami, as they travel to DC United - Wayne Rooney's former side - next weekend.

After that, the franchise will play their first home game against LA Galaxy at Lockhart Stadium.

Suffering defeat in their first-ever match wouldn't have been how Miami pictured their MLS bow.

But given how much Beckham and co. have had to overcome just to get to this stage, it's only the beginning.
