Highly rated Crystal Palace scholar Jon Williams will become the subject of a summer transfer bid by Liverpool reports the Daily Mirror.

Williams, 17, is a Welsh under-21 international, and although he is yet to make his first team debut for the Eagles, Reds manager Kenny Dalglish is keen to bring the promising youngster to Anfield on a long-term deal.

Liverpool have been tracking Williams who has impressed in his many performances for Crystal Palace’s reserve team.

This signing would signal a statement of intent from Anfield owners NESV to recruit the brightest young talent with a view to creating a talented Liverpool team of the future.

Reds Director of Football Strategy Damien Comolli has been recruited by Liverpool for that very reason, to cast his eye over potential stars of the future, and the chief scout has given the green light for Dalglish to proceed with negotiations.

As reported by the Daily Mail, Liverpool are also said to be tracking another of Selhurst Park’s hottest prospects Wilfried Zaha – a talented young striker who has recently been called into the England U-19 squad.

Having sanctioned multi-million pound deals in the January transfer window, to secure the headline signings of Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez, there is no doubt the Liverpool board will agree to the transfer of both Zaha and Williams.

Both of which could move to Anfield in the summer as Liverpool look to expand their pool of up and coming talent.
