Sophia Flörsch will compete in an all-female team at June's 24 Hours of Le Mans race.

The German racing driver will line up alongside Tatiana Calderon and Briton Katherine Legge.

Flörsch, who is 19 years old, was involved in a crash at the Macau Grand Prix. She was driving at 170mph and it left her with a fractured spine in November 2018.

She has since recovered finishing seventh in the Formula Regional European Championship in 2019 and receiving the Laureus World Sports Award for World Comeback of the Year 2019.

Flörsch spoke about her Le Mans appearance on Twitter. She wrote: "Yes! I am racing this high class superduper motorsport event. Ready to rumble girls."

The news comes after the announcement that she will make her FIA Formula 3 debut and become the first woman to compete for the Spanish racing Side Campos Racing for the 2020 season.

Newschain reports she said: "I am very happy to be competing in the FIA F3 Championship together with Campos Racing,”

It will be a challenge for Flörsch. She said: “It is going to be my first season in the actual Formula 3 car." She added: "Without any test days I have to learn a lot, but I am looking forward to competing against the best drivers.

Flörsch said she is looking forward to it: “For me, it’s important to get better each race weekend, work together with the team and have fun. It’s going to be a great year. The experience of Adrian Campos and his team will for sure help me.”
