Cristiano Ronaldo's mother has been rushed to hospital with a suspected stroke.

According to the Mirror, local reports in Portugal are saying that Dolores Aveiro was admitted to Dr Nelio Mendonca Hospital, Madeira, in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

It's been claimed that Aveiro is 'conscious and stable' and will undergo tests in the coming hours to establish the state of her health.

One source claims that Aveiro suffered a ischemic stroke, which is caused by a blood clot that blocks or plugs blood vessels in the brain. The hospital are yet to make an official comment.

The mum-of-four has previously had health complications and won her battle with breast cancer in 2007.

Health scare for Ronaldo's mother

Two years later, Ronaldo himself donated £100,000 to build a cancer ward at the hospital that saved his mother's life.

Isabel Aguiar, director of the cancer charity, remarked at the time: "I believe he made the gift because of his mother Dolores.

"It is the first donation he has given us. We are going to build a small centre in the garden of the Hospital Central, to give support to cancer patients."

'Fighting for her life' in 2019

However, there were fresh concerns at the start of 2019 when Ronaldo's mother revealed that she was 'fighting for her life' after new cancer worries.

She informed Portuguese TV: "I was operated on another breast in Madrid, I’ve had radiotherapy and now I’m fighting for my life."

We send our best wishes to Aveiro and everyone in the Ronaldo family.
