Matchroom Sport promoter Eddie Hearn has said that he believes that an Anthony Joshua v Tyson Fury all-British super-fight must happen this year.

The pair are currently scheduled to fight Kubrat Pulev and Deontay Wilder respectively in June and July, which leaves room for a potential undisputed battle for the ages at the end of this year.

Talking to Sky Sports, as per TalkSport, Hearn explained:

"The great thing is that [Fury vs Wilder 3] is in July and we [Joshua] box in June. Now our intention and conversations are ongoing, is to finalise the Fury vs Joshua fight for December of this year.

AJ is currently booked to defend his IBF, WBA and WBO heavyweight belts on June 20 at White Hart Lane, while Fury will battle the Bronze Bomber for a third time with the WBC title on the line, after taking it from the American in dominant fashion just a number of days ago.

"There's no reason not to get that contracted now, subject to both guys winning in the summer."

Since the loss, Wilder has triggered the rematch clause in his contract, meaning that the likely trilogy finale will take place in Las Vegas.

"The proudness and ego of Wilder meant it was very unlikely [Joshua vs Fury would be the next fight]. He's not stepping aside, he wants this rematch with Fury.

The undisputed fight must happen in 2020

Hearn also added that a two-fight agreement between AJ and Fury is also being worked on, and that he'd also try and make it happen in the UK.

Frank Warren, Fury's co-promoter, has echoed the words of Hearn, insisting that as long as the boxers keep winning, the hotly anticipated 'Battle of Britain' will take place before the end of the year.

While the fight doesn't have a definitive date set for itself yet, there's no doubt that we'll be in for a treat once it's sorted.
