Tottenham’s hopes of qualifying for next season’s Champions League took a massive blow on Sunday. At home to fellow Champions League chasers Wolves, Jose Mourinho’s side went 1-0 and 2-1 ahead but managed to lose 3-2.The loss leaves Spurs in seventh, five points behind Chelsea in fourth and two points adrift of both Manchester United and Wolves.Following their Champions League loss to Leipzig and their 2-1 defeat to Chelsea, Mourinho tried to change things up by playing Eric Dier in a back-three alongside Davinson Sanchez and Japhet Tanganga. In midfield were Harry Winks and Giovani Lo Celso. But after going 3-2 down with less than 15 minutes remaining, Mourinho brought on club-record signing Tanguy Ndombele for Tanganga. The £53.8 million signing has had a difficult start to life in England. He looks brilliant on the ball but, without out, he's not up to scratch - especially for a Mourinho side.None more so than just a few minutes after he came on against Wolves. And a video has gone viral of his rather embarrassing defending during Pedro Neto’s dribble.Neto took on three Spurs players but Ndombele can be seen jogging back making very little attempt to tackle him.Eventually, the ball fell to Raul Jimenez who fired over.Ndombele’s lazy defending has since gone viral - so much so that Mourinho was asked about the footage in his press conference on Tuesday afternoon. The Spurs boss had clearly seen it as he attempted to laugh it off.“Pedro Neto is very fast,” Mourinho said. “He is, he is very fast.

“Wolves have done fantastic work in the selection of the profile of their players for many years.

“They know what they want; they choose the profile of player adapted to the qualities of the team.

“We had 65 per cent of the ball - and we almost doubled their number of passes - but they are very fast. [Adama] Traore, [Diogo] Jota, Pedro Neto, [Daniel] Podence, they are all very, very fast.”

Mourinho has already called out Ndombele for his lack of fitness earlier in the season and this video certainly won’t help the situation.

Maybe Ndombele fans will begin to understand why Mourinho isn’t his biggest fan.
