It’s going to be a very sad day for football when Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi retire. The two superstars have wowed fans every week for more than a decade and both can argue that they’re the greatest to have ever played the game. But it’s no secret that the pair are slowly starting to wane.Ronaldo is now 35 and, despite scoring 25 goals in 31 games this season, his influence in matches is lessening.Meanwhile, Messi will turn 33 in the summer and his return of 23 goals in 30 appearances this season is poor by his usual incredible standards. What on earth are we going to do when they both hang up their boots? It’s still a couple of years away hopefully but football will be a much poorer place without those two. However, we may not have to wait too long to experience yet another Messi vs Ronaldo rivalry. That’s because both Ronaldo and Messi are fathers to boys who, incidentally, were born 869 days apart - the exact same age difference as their dads. We’ve already seen clips of nine-year-old Ronaldo Jr. impressing for Juventus youth sides. And now, footage has emerged of seven-year-old Thiago Messi playing for Barcelona Under 8s.During a match earlier this month, Thiago can be seen scoring twice during a 9-2 win.His first came after beating defenders with pace before opening his body and scoring with his RIGHT foot. Yes, it appears Thiago isn’t left-footed like his dad!His second was another neat finish with his right foot as he sent the goalkeeper the wrong way.

Incidentally, the sons of Gerard Pique (Milan) and Luis Suarez (Benjamin) also played in the same match.

Benjamin actually scored a magnificent goal of his own.

After holding off a defender by pushing him to the floor, mini-Suarez produce a brilliant strike with left foot. He proceeded to celebrate with a ‘Klinsmann’ dive. Like father, like son. (Benjamin Suarez’s goal comes after Thiago Messi’s first goal in the below video).

Can you imagine how good that La Masia side could be in a few years' time...

Messi recently gave an interview about Thiago and revealed he often talks about six footballers.

"He talks a lot about Luis [Suarez], with whom we have the best relationship, about [Antoine] Griezmann and Arturo [Vidal] since the first day because of his hair and all that," Messi revealed.

"Also about people from outside, [Kylian] Mbappe, Cristiano [Ronaldo], Neymar. Yeah, Thiago knows them all, he asks questions and likes it a lot."
