Netflix's popular documentary series 'Sunderland 'Til I Die' is officially returning for its second season on April 1.
The streaming company confirmed the news on their Twitter account today, writing: "Sunderland 'Til I Die season 2 arrives on April 1st. And no, we didn't do that on purpose."
After the success of season one, which documented the Black Cats' relegation to League One from the Championship, a second season was quickly commissioned.
This time around, there will only be six episodes and they will focus on Stewart Donald's attempt to rebuild the club after his takeover following back-to-back relegations.
After Sunderland's eventful 2018/19 campaign - which included a dramatic play-off final loss to Charlton Athletic - the new instalments are likely to be even more exciting than those in the first season.
The team were also beaten on penalties by Portsmouth in the final of the Checkatrade Trophy. Emotions will be running high throughout the series.
Back in February, producer Leo Pearlman spoke about the attitude of former Sunderland manager Jack Ross with regards to the filming of the series.
"Jack Ross is a very disciplined, organised man," he said of the manager, who was sacked in October 2019, per Sunderland Echo.
"He's very meticulous and I think that anything that could possibly hinder that, concerns him. Ultimately, all Jack wants is success on the pitch and I respect that."
The Echo also claim 'new owners Donald and Charlie Methven reportedly offered the Netflix cameras in-depth access to off-field matters', so we may be getting some even juicier storylines come April.
There is also likely to be a third series of the show, with Pearlman adding: "If something big happens in the future, I'm sure we'll be able to capture it on camera."
