Barcelona players have already lost faith in Quique Setien after just TWO months

Barcelona were beaten comfortably by Real Madrid in Sunday’s El Clasico.

Los Blancos ran out 2-0 winners at the Bernabeu, thanks to second-half goals from Vinicius Jr and Mariano Diaz.

The result means Barca slip to second in La Liga and hand their great rivals an advantage in the title race.

But really, we should have seen this coming. After all, Quique Setien’s side have lost three of their six away games since he was hired in January.

That’s hardly the form we’re used to seeing from Lionel Messi and co. In fact, since Setien replaced Ernesto Valverde, Barca have really struggled.

So much so, that parts of the dressing room have already lost faith in their coach after less than TWO months and some don’t believe he’s up to the job.

According to Catalunya Radio, per AS, comments such as “these guys [Setien and his backroom team] don’t know how to steer this ship,” are being heard amongst some players.

Others are suggesting the coaches are ‘out of their depth’ and even believe they aren’t up to the task of working for a club of Barcelona’s stature.

Pretty brutal, right?

These feelings amongst the squad began in late January after a 2-0 defeat to Valencia and have apparently escalated after the Clasico defeat.

AS are reporting that squad members have expressed their displeasure at Setien’s decision to take off Arturo Vidal in the second half vs Real Madrid

Some believe that substitution contributed to their defeat.

These reports will certainly be worrying for Barca fans. Sacking Valverde was supposed to fix the problems we saw in the first half of the season, but it seems very little has changed.

Perhaps the next step is for the Barca board to send Setien and his staff packing and let the players coach themselves? We’re only joking, of course.
