Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Eric Dier ran into the stand to confront a supporter after Spurs were knocked out of the FA Cup at home to Norwich City. There were allegations that Dier was reacting to racist abuse aimed towards Tottenham midfielder Gedson Fernandes but Jose Mourinho later claimed that the England international was unhappy with a situation involving his younger brother.“This person insulted Eric, the family was there, the younger brother was not happy with the situation,” Mourinho said, per BBC Sport.“I think Eric did what we professionals cannot do but probably every one of us would do."Fans who were close to the incident have shared footage on social media and one supporter who was nearby has revealed more information about it.According to Twitter user @CalverJAC, Dier’s brother grabbed a Spurs fan who was shouting and ranting at the players after their defeat.

Dier then jumped into the crowd and headed for the fan that his brother had grabbed before the situation calmed down.

No punches were thrown, with @CalverJAC writing: “Just grabbing mostly.”

According to Dan Kilpatrick of the Evening Standard, Dier was calm afterwards, while his brother visited the dressing room.

The 26-year-old could now face an FA charge but Mourinho wouldn’t agree if Spurs take action against the midfielder.

“If the club does that I will not agree, but he did wrong,” the Portuguese coach insisted.
