Bruno Fernandes has been a brilliant signing for Manchester United.

The Portuguese midfielder has immediately come into a United side and made them much better.

He's recorded three goals and two assists in his opening seven games. United have gone unbeaten in that time, winning four and drawing three.

Fernandes has already shown his leadership qualities despite being at United for such a short amount of time. He has been praised for his mentality both on and off the pitch and has been touted by some as a future captain.

The Times have now published a detailed report which shows just how impressive Fernandes' mentality has been since joining the Red Devils.

On January 30, Fernandes signed for Man United.

It was his daughter's third birthday and, coupled with the fact that he had just completed a huge transfer, he could easily have gone out to celebrate.

But the Portuguese midfielder had no intention of doing so.

Instead, he's said to have turned to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and said: “Can I train now?”

That is despite the rest of the squad not being at Carrington. But this mattered little to the 25-year-old, who wanted to prepare for the game against Wolves.

He insisted on working on his fitness and that helped him complete the full 90 minutes on his debut.

The next day, Fernandes trained with his teammates for the first time.

He made another good impression by barking to his teammates on a number of occasions: “Give me the ball!”

He wanted to be at the centre of everything and, according to a staff member present, it gave everyone a lift.

Fernandes has also refused to do interviews both before and after games as he doesn't want to disrupt both his preparation and recovery.

The former Sporting player has also been described as 'polite' but 'outspoken'.

“If he [Fernandes] thinks something is not right, he will tell you so," a staff member said of him.

And Fernandes' elite mentality was also on show after the Everton draw.

He scored his first United goal from open play but it wasn't enough as they could only draw 1-1.

Despite dropping points, most United players in the dressing room were content as they believed that it was a good result.

But Fernandes took exception to this, telling them they should be 'mad' about failing to pick up all three points.

Despite being so new to the team, Fernandes isn't afraid to show his displeasure at teammates, as shown by the 'death stare' he gave Juan Mata after he was beaten to a ball in their game against Derby on Thursday.

Fernandes has only been at United for just a matter of months but he's making a big impression both and off the pitch.

Everyone connected with the club will no doubt want that to continue for the foreseeable future.
