WWE news: Edge has been confirmed to return to Monday Night Raw this week

WWE fans are still probably in shock at the events of what transpired on Monday Night Raw nearly six weeks ago.

Just one night after Edge returned after a near nine-year absence from the ring, the story was put in place to put him on the sidelines once again.

Once partners under the Rated RKO name, Randy Orton and Edge won tag team gold back in 2007, but it would be The Viper who would strike the night after the 2020 Royal Rumble.

A vicious Con-chair-to directly to Edge’s surgically-repaired neck saw the Rated-R Superstar carted out of the arena on a stretcher, and since then Orton has become more aggressive and violent to others.

That includes towards the now-departed Matt Hardy, who felt the full wrath of Orton not once, but twice, and this past Monday night saw Edge’s wife – WWE Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix – get dropped with an RKO.

And as expected, those actions from Orton have triggered Edge’s return to our screens, as WWE are advertising him to be in the capital of the U.S.A – Washington D.C. – this Monday night.

We all know how it’s going to go down – Edge will swear vengeance on Orton for what he did, and inevitably, Edge’s return singles match will go down in Tampa on April 5 against his old foe at WrestleMania.

It’s perhaps surprising that WWE waited six weeks to do this, but with Super ShowDown last week and Elimination Chamber tomorrow night, there’s just been too much going on to deal with everything.

Even so, Orton’s actions in the weeks that Edge has been absent have been spellbinding, and the promo he delivered to Phoenix last week was nothing short of spectacular.

Prepare for more brilliant segments like that in the weeks leading up to WrestleMania, and there’s probably a high chance that we see the Rated-R Superstar get his hands on Orton, or perhaps someone else in the build-up – exciting times!
