Liverpool are back on track thanks to a 2-1 win at home to Bournemouth as their poor recent run came to an end. Atletico Madrid, Watford and Chelsea have all got the better of Jurgen Klopp's side in recent weeks. The Cherries thought it was going to be their turn initially. The early evidence suggested it might have been, as Callum Wilson opened the scoring after just nine minutes. The opener wasn't without controversy, Wilson appearing to push Joe Gomez in the build-up before tapping in Jefferson Lerma's cross. VAR declined to rule it out, much to Klopp's fury, and Liverpool were on the ropes once again.However, the visitors' lead didn't last long before Mo Salah capitalised on Jack Simpson's sloppy mistake to finish from a tight angle. It's hard not to feel for Simpson, who had only been brought on a substitute for injured skipper Steve Cook and held his hands up after giving it away. Sadio Mane then made it 2-1 with 32 minutes on the clock. Virgil van Dijk intercepted a Bournemouth attack and played the ball straight into the feet of the Senegal forward and he made no mistake in slotting it past Aaron Ramsdale. Yet Liverpool's lead was only maintained by a heroic goalline clearance from James Milner with the ball looping over Adrian. The former England international was standing in for the injured Andy Robertson and what a contribution he made. Liverpool spurned a great chance to put the game to bed thanks to a deft touch from Roberto Firmino, the Brazilian firing across the goalmouth, but Mane couldn't get there - he then hit the crossbar just moments later. But it was ultimately Milner's acrobatics that saved the day, especially given there was a heart-in-mouth moment right at the very end where Nathan Ake - fortunately for Liverpool, an offside Nathan Ake - squared to Wilson yards from goal. The stand-in left-back rightly earned man of the match for that moment. He'd also shown his leadership off the pitch by filling in well for Jordan Henderson with his warm-up speech:
