Man United fans are getting excited about 16-year-old Zidane Iqbal after Under-18s performance

Manchester United are incredibly proud of their academy.

The club’s youth system has produced many fantastic players and it continues to do so, with Marcus Rashford currently leading the way for recent graduates.

Young striker Mason Greenwood looks like a future star while 19-year-old left-back Brandon Williams has also impressed this season.

The Red Devils have included an academy graduate in the first team squad for every single game since 1937, a record that they are incredibly proud of.

And it doesn’t seem like that run is going to end anytime soon, with standout players developing in all of their youth teams.

One such player is 16-year-old Zidane Iqbal, a midfielder currently playing for Man United’s Under-18s.

Iqbal was born in Manchester to a father from Pakistan and a mother from Iraq.

He impressed in the Under-18s 4-0 win over Sunderland on Saturday, grabbing a goal and producing many highlights that have made their way to Twitter.

One was a ridiculous piece of skill to defeat his marker.

Check out his goal, too, in which Iqbal sent two Sunderland players to the shops.

A video of Iqbal’s highlights against Sunderland have emerged on YouTube and they’re well worth a watch.

Other Iqbal moments that showcase his talent include a phenomenal assist and this move that we still can’t get our head around.

Last December, United Zone conducted an interview with Iqbal in which they asked him whether he could be as good as his namesake, Real Madrid and France legend Zinedine Zidane.

Here’s his answer, as well as some more questions he was asked.

Zidane: I hope to be as good as Zinedine Zidane one day but they are really high standards to live up too but hopefully I reach them.

What’s your position on the pitch?

Best moment of your career so far?
