France were the masters of their own downfall in what began as a close encounter with Scotland in the Six Nations. The hosts led by just seven points at the interval, Adam Hastings having scored three penalties and Sean Maitland's try proving the difference. However, what turned the game on its head was what can only be described as a moment of madness from Mohamed Haouas. France were resigned to playing with 14 men for the remainder of the afternoon after Haouas saw red for a blatant punch. Those familiar with Haouas' checkered career so far may not be all that surprised, given that he has form for these sort of outbursts. Nevertheless, it was a particularly brutal hit on Jamie Ritchie and the referee was left with absolutely no choice whatsoever but to send him for an early bath. France's Grand Slam hopes are now over after a 28-17 defeat. You can see footage of the incident involving Haouas and Ritchie below:

Ritchie will have counted himself lucky to not have received a yellow card himself in the moments prior as he too appeared to raise his hand, but he certainly got the last laugh.

What on earth was Haouas thinking?!
