Anthony Martial opened the scoring for Manchester United against Manchester City after a smart free-kick from Bruno Fernandes.The Red Devils were awarded a set-piece in City's half when the Portuguese midfielder used his initiative to find Martial with a quick lobbed pass.The French forward volleyed the ball first time beyond Ederson, who really should have done better.Martial has now scored 11 goals in the Premier League this season, equalling his best ever tally in a single campaign.But what about Fernandes? He now has two goals and three assists in five league appearances for Man United.He's made an incredible start to life at Old Trafford.

Man United went on to prevail 2-0 in the derby as they made it 10 games unbeaten.

Scott McTominay scored late on to seal the win over Man City and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer heaped praise on Fernandes at full-time.

"The whole club [has been lifted]," Solskjaer said about Fernandes' impact, per Metro. "Because he has everything I spoke about.

"He works hard, he is humble enough, he’s got the desire and commitment, but he’s also got the X-factor.

"He is a risk-taker, he’s got the courage to make mistakes and if you make enough mistakes it’ll be corrected into fantastic assists or goals.

"You need a character here, you need character at this club, but this team they have got that.

"They have learned through some hard times this season, because we have been a young team and we have started something we believe in and Bruno has helped that."
