WWE’s plans for the SmackDown Women’s Championship at WrestleMania this year may have been revealed, and it involves a six-pack challenge.

To date, WWE has four matches confirmed for WrestleMania 36 on April 5, and plenty more matches will be booked for the show once Elimination Chamber has concluded tonight.

While there are storylines set for other major titles in WWE, one title which is yet to be booked for the show is the SmackDown Women’s Championship.

Bayley is the current SmackDown Women’s Champion, but she has managed to run through whoever was placed before her inside the ring over the past couple of months, successfully defending her title on each occasion.

It seems as though WWE may have noticed this dilemma, so instead of having a new challenger come forward in mere weeks before this year’s Showcase of Immortals, a six-pack challenge is being planned for the event.

According to Alex McCarthy of talkSPORT, WWE is planning a six-pack challenge for the SmackDown Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 36.

The competitors rumoured to be a part of the match are Bayley, Sasha Banks, Naomi, Lacey Evans, and Carmella.

The sixth competitor in the match hasn’t been rumoured, but Alex noted it won’t be Alexa Bliss as she’s expected to be involved in the Women’s Tag Team Championship picture on the show.

Bliss is expected to be tagging with Nikki Cross against The Kabuki Warriors and The Divas of Doom in a triple threat for the Women’s Tag Team titles.

Alex noted as well that the original plans for the SmackDown Women’s title were to be a Bayley vs Banks match, but due to The Boss’ injury, WWE was forced to change their plans.

WWE previously booked a six-pack challenge for the SmackDown Women’s title back at WrestleMania 33 in 2017.

On that night, Naomi defeated Bliss, Becky Lynch, Carmella, Mickie James, and Natalya in the ring to become the SmackDown Women’s Champion.

We’ll have to keep our eyes on SmackDown over the next couple of weeks leading up to WrestleMania to see if WWE books this match.
