Anthony Martial was at his best as Manchester United beat Manchester City.

The Frenchman scored the opening goal, getting on the end of a clever Bruno Fernandes free-kick to volley past Ederson.

Scott McTominay then doubled United's lead in injury time thanks to another howler from the City goalkeeper.

It was Martial's blistering performance that earned Man of the Match as he continued his run of three goals in his last five league games. Roy Keane speculated afterwards that Odion Ighalo's arrival has got a reaction out of his teammate, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer won't be too worried about the cause of his revival.

When he's on his a-game, the 24-year-old can be spectacular. His critics might argue that isn't often enough, but on his current form he is putting United in a great position to chase down the Champions League spots.

Granted, he had a helping hand from Ederson for his goal. However, he also got on the wrong side of the Brazilian when the two went for the same ball and Martial ended up crashing into the post.

It looked nasty at the time and he received treatment from United's medical staff.

Instead, he stayed on and carried on contributing to arguably United's biggest win of the season. The scenes around Old Trafford certainly made it feel like that, anyway.

After the game, Martial took to Instagram to show the damage from that incident and his story revealed a nasty cut to his leg.

Fittingly though, it ended with him holding the Man of the Match award.

Full credit to him for playing through the pain and persevering through what must have been a difficult second half.
