Timo Werner is currently one of the hottest footballing properties on the planet.
The RB Leipzig striker has been in stunning form during the 2019/20 season, scoring 21 goals and assisting seven more in just 25 Bundesliga games.
Werner has also scored four times in his seven Champions League games, with Leipzig on the cusp of qualifying for the quarter-finals of the competition after beating Tottenham 1-0 in London.
But despite Leipzig's rise to the upper echelons of European football in recent years, Werner is likely to depart Germany sooner rather than later.
Liverpool have been heavily linked with the 24-year-old all season as Jurgen Klopp looks to bolster his already star-studded forward line ahead of the 2020/21 campaign.
Bild are reporting once again that the Reds are desperate to pull of the deal but this time, they're attempting to do so with an added twist.
That's because Liverpool are prepared to sign Werner and then immediately loan him back to Leipzig for next season.
It would be a bold move from Michael Edwards and the recruitment team at Anfield and it suggests one of two things could be about to occur at the Premier League champions-in-waiting.
Firstly, tying up a deal for Werner but having the German international arrive at a later date could pave way for another major signing to arrive this summer.
The likes of Jadon Sancho, Kai Havertz and - to a lesser extent - Kylian Mbappe have all been linked with high-profile switches to Liverpool in the past 12 months.
Secondly, the delayed arrival of Werner could suggest that Liverpool are prepared to part ways with one of Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah or Sadio Mane in the summer of 2021.
Salah in particular has been linked with a high-profile move to Real Madrid pretty much since his arrival at Anfield, while Mane has also been linked with Los Blancos in the past.
