Manchester United have found themselves an absolute gem in Bruno Fernandes.

It's no coincidence that the Red Devils have gone unbeaten since shelling out an initial €55 million on the Portuguese and victory in the Manchester Derby has undoubtedly been the highlight.

Fernandes turned provider for Anthony Martial's opener and was seen wildly celebrating with the Frenchman on the bench when Scott McTominay wrapped up the three points in stoppage time.

And although it was Martial who bagged the Man of the Match award for downing Pep Guardiola's men, nobody was under any illusion that Fernandes had anything short of a great game.

His arrival seems to have given a dynamism to United's midfield that they've severely lacked in Paul Pogba's absence and that Andreas Pereira simply hasn't been able to provide.

Fernandes' stunning start at United

Three assists and three goals also shows that Fernandes is starting to transfer the goal contributions that made him such a hit with Sporting Lisbon to English shores.

That's not to mention the fact his WhoScored.com average match rating of 7.80 at the club makes him second only to Kevin De Bruyne in the Premier League.

Ok, yes, the elephant in the room is that Fernandes has only played eight matches and we'd be naive to make the assumption that he'll become a United hero at this early stage.

Fernandes' United highlights so far

But seldom do we see a January signing make such an instant impact at a top six club with Virgil van Dijk at Liverpool being another one of the successful anomalies.

As much as we could list the statistics to back up Fernandes' brilliance, though, there's no substitute for seeing the evidence with your own two eyes and it's already pretty incredible.

The sample size might be small, but YouTuber 'Brazil Scout' has compiled a fantastic video of Fernandes' best bits at United so far and has dramatically christened it: 'The Beginning'.

He looks a class act, doesn't he?

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has said that United are 'two or three' signings away from competing for the title and if they all hit the ground running like Fernandes, then he's probably not wrong.

The addition of Fernandes means that the possibility of Pogba leaving is far less of a worry and the club now has a regular supply of goals and assists from the midfield again.

But perhaps most importantly of all, Fernandes seems to have his head screwed on with an elite mentality in training and swagger that has made him an instant fans' favourite.

If the Portuguese can maintain his trajectory and benefit from a few big-money signings around him, then Solskjaer's hypothetical talk about title contention could easily become a reality.
