Jesse Lingard's struggles have been well documented in the past year.

The Englishman was once one of the most promising players in world football.

Just under two years ago, he played a starring role in England's run to the semi-finals of the 2018 World Cup.

But it's been tough times ever since then. Lingard has struggled to make an impact when called upon and has scored just twice in all competitions in the past 13 months.

His last Premier League goal came all the way back in December 2018 when he netted a brace during Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's first game in chance.

Lingard has now fallen out of favour under Solskjaer.

The English midfielder is primarily used in cup games and has found game time hard to come by in the Premier League.

In fact, Lingard has not featured in Man United's last four Premier League games has played just 25 minutes in their last eight top tier games.

But, despite his struggles, it doesn't appear to have affected Lingard's confidence.

That's because, according to Goal, Lingard still believes he's one of the best number 10s currently plying their trade in Europe.

Unfortunately for Lingard, Solskjaer does not have the same appraisal.

Solskjaer has been underwhelmed by his performances on the pitch this season. There are also question marks about how he applies himself in training, leading to Solskjaer demanding that he improves his work ethic and performances.

Thus, the Norwegian manager has reportedly loss confidence in Lingard and is ready to sell him in the summer.

United are planning on bringing in at least one of Jadon Sancho, Jack Grealish and James Maddison and the funds raised will be used to sign one of them.

However, it is believed that there isn't any strong interest from any clubs yet. That could all change come the summer, of course.

Lingard has been at United for just under 20 years, joining at the age of seven. But it appears his lengthy spell at the club could come to an end in just a few months time.
