The sporting world is grinding to a halt amid fears of the spreading coronavirus.

In Italy, Serie A fixtures are being played behind closed doors at best, while others are being postponed until a later date.

Supporters will not be allowed to attend Paris Saint-Germain's crunch Champions League fixture with Borussia Dortmund either.

Back in England, the FA are even considering lifting the broadcast blackout to allow fans to watch 3pm kickoffs live.

It's all just a massive mess. Some games and competitions are still being played, while others have been called off indefinitely.

On Monday night, Sassuolo's Serie A fixture against Brescia did go ahead, albeit behind closed doors.

During the match, Francesco Caputo scored for the hosts and decided to send a message about coronavirus during his celebration.

The Sassuolo striker held up a hand-written sign that read: 'Everything will be fine. Stay safe at home.' Check it out:

That's class - and a timely reminder that some things are more important than football.

Health should always take priority over sport and for that reason, following tonight's fixture, all domestic sport in Italy has been suspended until April 3.

"All sport in Italy has been suspended until April 3 following an announcement from the countries Olympic Committee," a statement on Juventus' website read.

"The Olympic Committee met earlier today and has come to the decision to suspend sport across the country until the first week of April.

"The decision now needs to be confirmed by official decree from the Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte and would lead to a suspension of all football in the country."

While domestic fixtures have been suspended, continental competitions are still expected to run and that means Juve, Atalanta, Inter Milan and Roma will all still play in Europe over the next week.
