Jose Mourinho threw Tanguy Ndombele under the boss following Tottenham Hotspur’s 1-1 draw with Burnley on Saturday.The £54 million midfielder was replaced at half-time after producing an anonymous display, which wasn’t his first since becoming Spurs’ record signing last summer."In the first half we didn't have a midfield," Mourinho said, per BBC Sport."Of course I'm not speaking of Skipp because he's a kid of 19 who's played two hours in the last few days. I don't criticise him at all."But I'm not going to run away and I have to say he [Ndombele] has had enough time to come to a different level."I know the Premier League is difficult, and some players take a long time to adapt to a different league."But a player with his potential has to give us more than he is giving us, especially when you see how Lucas, Lo Celso and those players are playing. I was expecting more in the first half from him."
Further criticism was aimed at Ndombele on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football programme ahead of Leicester vs Aston Villa.Jamie Carragher appeared alongside former England boss Sven-Goran Eriksson and he didn’t hold back when he assessed Ndombele’s performance, labelling the 23-year-old a “disgrace”."His performance was nothing short of a disgrace in terms of his effort off the ball,” Carragher said."On the ball he was actually very good, but off the ball when I watched the game you can't believe what you're seeing."Ndombele’s stats from the game show that he attempted zero sprints and his top speed of 24.1km/h ranked 10th out of Spurs’ players.Carragher added: “He either can’t run or he doesn’t want to run.
