Jamie Vardy made quite the impact against Aston Villa on Monday night. The Leicester City striker started on the bench but came on in the 60th minute and netted two goals. He helped the Foxes to a 4-0 win against their relegation-threatened rivals, with Harvey Barnes also scoring a double. Vardy's brace means he's now scored 19 Premier League goals this season, moving ahead of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the Golden Boot race. His first goal came from the penalty spot, but he caused a bit of controversy with his celebration. After stroking the ball past Pepe Reina, the 33-year-old went into his infamous 'sh*thouse' mode, mocking the Villa goalkeeper.Vardy was caught on camera shouting some choice words at the Spaniard, before clearly laughing in his direction and appearing to 'shush' Reina and the Villa fans. Unfortunately, we don't know exactly what Vardy is saying to Reina, but it's clear he's trying to rattle him.
Post-match, the English striker was asked about his actions and suggested he was more than happy to play the mind games.
"The 'keeper said I was going down the middle and I was. He tried to play my bluff and I ended up calling his."
Fair enough. Love him or hate him, you can't deny that Vardy is still a class striker, despite being 33.
There's even some suggestion he could come out of international retirement and play a role in England's squad for Euro 2020.
Gareth Southgate has suggested he's open to bringing Vardy back into the fold and with all the injuries in the squad, it wouldn't be all that surprising.
