Bruno Fernandes has made an unbelievable start to his Manchester United career.
The Portuguese midfielder, who joined the Red Devils from Sporting Lisbon in a deal worth an initial £47 million, has helped to transform United’s fortunes in recent weeks.
In six appearances for his new employers, Fernandes has scored two goals and registered three assists.
United haven’t lost since the 25-year-old signed and his arrival has given everybody associated with the club a massive lift.
Fernandes has hit the ground running at Old Trafford thanks to his quality and confidence. He’s already a favourite with the fans and appears to have everything required to become one of the Premier League’s top stars.
According to a new report in The Sun, Man Utd players have been joking that Fernandes is their answer to Liverpool’s James Milner.
Milner is famed with his no-nonsense attitude. He’s the type of player you’d want on your side in a battle.
And like Milner presumably would have done in the same circumstances, Bruno refused all offers of gloves and skins from United’s kit-men when he joined the club - despite the fact his arrival ‘coincided with storms and a brutal cold snap’ in the UK.
The report adds that Fernandes said he wants to acclimatise to the British weather as soon as possible after spending the past three years playing in Portugal.
So it’s safe to say you won’t see United’s new boy running about in long sleeves and gloves when it gets a bit nippy.
“It’s been hammering it down at training, the wind was blowing sideways and the new guy from sunny Portugal’s putting most of the lads to shame,” a United insider told The Sun.
“He’s another Milner, no messing about — he just gets out there whatever the weather.
"We’ve joked he’s already losing his tan!”
Who knows, maybe we’ll be seeing a ‘Boring Bruno Fernandes’ Twitter account pop up soon if the Milner comparisons are accurate.
Joking aside, Milner has been worth his weight in gold to Liverpool since joining the Reds from Manchester City in 2015.
If Bruno proves to be as successful as Milner has been at Anfield, then he will certainly have justified his transfer fee.
