VAR has had quite an impact on Premier League football this season.

We should know here at GMS.

Each week, we look back at the previous gameweek and work out what would have happened without the interference of technology.

It requires a bit of guesswork but it's about as accurate as you can get.

In gameweek 29, there weren't too many controversial VAR moments.

Arsenal's winner against West Ham was initially flagged for offside but VAR intervened and rightly allowed Alexandre Lacazette's goal.

Meanwhile, there was carnage at St. Mary's in the match between Southampton and Newcastle.

Firstly, Moussa Djenepo was shown a red card after VAR looked at his late and high tackle on Isaac Hayden. Then, VAR awarded Newcastle a penalty for Sofiane Boufal's handball.

So, how does that leave our 'Premier League table without VAR'?

Game: West Ham (H)

Incident: Alexandre Lacazette's 78th-minute winner was initially flagged for offside against Mesut Ozil but VAR awarded the goal.

Outcome without VAR (DRAW): With just 12 minutes remaining and the scores level at 0-0, the most likely result if Lacazette's goal had been disallowed would have been a draw.

Game: Southampton (A)

Incident 1: VAR upgraded Moussa Djenepo's tackle on Isaac Hayden to a red card after referee Graham Scott reviewed the incident on the monitor.

Incident 2: VAR awarded Newcastle a first half penalty for Sofiane Boufal's handball in the penalty area.

Outcome without VAR (DRAW): Djenepo's 28th-minute sending off obviously changed the game. If VAR didn't send him off, we feel Southampton would have got something out of the match with a draw being the most likely result. VAR awarding a penalty to Newcastle in the 40th-minute is irrelevant because Matt Richie missed it anyway.
