The only Valencia fan in the Mestalla for tonight's Champions League match is their most loyal

There was only one fan inside the Mestalla

Valencia vs Atalanta might be played behind closed doors tonight due to the coronavirus, but one supporter still took his seat.

Lifelong fan Vicente Navarro was immortalised as a statue inside the Mestalla following his tragic death in 2017.

He had his season ticket for many years and despite going blind in his 50s, still turned up to support the La Liga club every week.

When he passed away, Valencia put a statue of him in his seat so he would be able to attend matches forever.

With their Champions League last 16 fixture against Atalanta being played behind closed doors, Navarro is the only spectator in the ground on Tuesday night.

Check out some images of his statue, as well as some footage, below:

Navarro still has one of the best seats in the house Navarro ensures the Mestalla is never really empty

Absolutely beautiful. Valencia also tweeted about Navarro before kickoff.

"We are the Soul of Mestalla. Because here... No game is played behind closed doors."

Unfortunately, the Spanish club had a huge task on their hands to reach the last eight of the Champions League on Tuesday night.

Valencia had a tough task against Atalanta

After losing the first leg 4-1, Valencia needed a miracle to get past Atalanta. But they got nothing of the sort.

Josip Ilicic scored for the visitors withing five minutes, converting from the penalty spot.

Kevin Gameiro equalised shortly after, but Ilicic netted again before half-time to send Atalanta into the break on top.

Valencia and Atalanta played out a classic

The second half continued in a similar fashion as Gameiro scored his second before Ferran Torres completed the Valencia comeback with 67 minutes on the clock.

But Ilicic, who was the star of the show, completed his hat-trick shortly after, before netting a FOURTH to make the score 4-3.

With that, Valencia were knocked out of the Champions League after losing 4-8 on aggregate to their Serie A opponents.
