Josip Ilicic is on fire right now.

The Atalanta star has scored 14 goals in 2020 already.

On Tuesday night, he notched FOUR as Atalanta beat Valencia 4-3 inside an empty Mestalla, winning 8-4 on aggregate.

In doing so, the 32-year-old became the 14th player to score four or more goals in a single Champions League tie.

It’s a pretty exclusive club. So who else has already achieved the incredible feat?

Let’s take a look:

Marco van Basten | AC Milan vs IFK Goteborg | 4-0 | 25 November 1992

The legendary Dutchman scored all four goals for Milan during their thrashing of Goteborg. He picked up the Ballon d’Or a month later.

Simone Inzaghi | Lazio vs Marseille | 5-1 | 14 March 2000

Alessandro Nesta, Diego Simeone, Pavel Nedved and Simeone Inzaghi. What a side Lazio had. Simone may not have been quite as prolific as his brother, Filippo, but he knew where the back of the net was.

Dado Prso | Monaco vs Deportivo La Coruna | 8-3 | 5 November 2003

Well, this was a crazy match, wasn’t it?

Prso scored four times during the group stage clash as Monaco reached the final, before being beaten by Jose Mourinho’s Porto.

Ruud van Nistelrooy | Manchester United vs Sparta Prague | 4–1 | 3 November 2004

What a striker Van Nistelrooy was at United and he scored all four during a group stage win against Sparta Prague back in 2004.

Andriy Shevchenko | Milan vs Fenerbahce | 4–0 | 23 November 2005

Just a few months after losing THAT final in Istanbul, Shevchenko and Milan put their disappointment to one side as they beat Fenerbahce in the same country they had lost to Liverpool in the final.

Lionel Messi | Barcelona vs Arsenal | 4–1 | 6 April 2010

After a 2-2 draw at the Emirates, Nicklaus Bendtner put Arsenal ahead on aggregate. But then Messi took control. He had scored a hat-trick by half-time and then added a fourth late on.

Bafetimbi Gomis | Lyon vs Dinamo Zagreb | 7–1 | 7 December 2011

Gomis scored four goals in 25 minutes - and a hat-trick in a record-breaking seven minutes - to help Lyon progress to the last-16 of the competition.

Lionel Messi | Barcelona vs Bayer Leverkusen | 7–1 | 7 March 2012

That man again. Messi became the first ever player to score five goals in a Champions League tie. Barca led 3-1 from the first-leg but Messi saw them cruise through to the quarter-finals with a quite incredible performance.

Mario Gomez | Bayern Munich vs Basel | 7–0 | 13 March 2012

Bayern trailed 1-0 from the first-leg but thrashed their Swiss opponents thanks to a four-goal haul from Gomez. The Champions League campaign ended in heartbreak in their own backyard though…

Robert Lewandowski | Borussia Dortmund vs Real Madrid | 4–1 | 24 April 2013

Dortmund took control of their semi-final clash thanks to Lewandowski’s four goals. Real Madrid’s 2-0 win in the second-leg wasn’t enough.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic | Paris Saint-Germain vs Anderlecht | 5–0 | 23 October 2013

Without doubt, the four goals scored by Zlatan are the most impressive. A back-heel flick, a 25-yard screamer before another incredible finish rounded off his four-timer.

Luiz Adriano | Shakhtar Donetsk vs BATE Borisov | 7–0 | 21 October 2014

Luiz Adriano became - and remains - the second player to score five goals in a single Champions League game.

Just weeks after he’d scored five against BATE, he scored a hat-trick in the return fixture.

Cristiano Ronaldo | Real Madrid vs Malmo | 8–0 | 8 December 2015

You just knew Ronaldo would make the list. He scored four in Real Madrid’s final group game in their victorious 2015/16 Champions League season.

Serge Gnabry | Bayern Munich vs Tottenham | 7–2 | 1 October 2019

One that Arsenal fans will never forget as Gnabry came back to north London to haunt Spurs.

Robert Lewandowski | Bayern Munich vs Red Star Belgrade | 6–0 | 26 November 2019

Another Bayern player bagged four goals in the Champions League this season - Lewandowski during another Bayern romp in the group stage.

Josip Ilicic | Atalanta vs Valencia | 4-3 | 10 March 2020

And that brings us onto the 14th different player to score four goals in a Champions League tie.

After scoring once in the first-leg, Ilicic bagged four to send Atalanta through to the quarter-finals in style.
