Manchester United seemed to have turned a corner after their victory in the Manchester Derby.

The shrewd January signing of Bruno Fernandes seems to have galvanised Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men, who are unbeaten in five Premier League games and comfortably defeated the champions.

Goals from Anthony Martial and Scott McTominay secured a 2-0 win at Old Trafford and gives the Red Devils more hope than ever of securing themselves a Champions League place.

And although United have the draw of their unrivalled history and prestige, there can be no denying that playing in Europe's premier competition would be a huge allure for their transfer targets.

Players such as Jadon Sancho, who have been linked with United and many other European clubs, are far more likely to make United their club of choice if they're competing for the biggest trophies.

Greater positivity at Man Utd

And bearing that in mind, United fans are starting to look to the future with a little more optimism and clearly Solskjaer is also planning ahead by securing a crucial contract extension.

Talented academy graduate Tahith Chong, 20, looked set for a move to Juventus as a free agent, but will instead remain at 'The Theatre of Dreams' after signing a new two-year contract.

It's a development that has got United fans thinking on social media and even inspired Twitter user @DevilsofUnited to draw up a plan for the club that has quickly gone viral.

Man Utd fan's viral tweet

The user outlined which players should be handed a new contract like Chong, which players should be targeted in the transfer window and which players should be kicked out the exit.

And the fact 2,400 accounts have retweeted the post and 16,700 have 'liked' it at the time of writing suggests their plan has been pretty popular with the United fanbase.

So, you can decide whether you're one of those nodding your head by checking out the tweet down below:

GIVEMESPORT's Kobe Tong says

You can see why the plan has been popular in fairness.

There seems no harm in parting cash for Jude Bellingham to prevent their European rivals securing a deal and Jack Grealish looks like the perfect player for Solskjaer's long-term vision at the club.

Buying Sancho would be a complete no-brainer considering his form at Borussia Dortmund and Thomas Partey has the potential to be an absolute steal with his cheap-ish release clause.

Extending Angel Gomes' stay makes sense in the same way that it does for Chong, but fans shouldn't be too certain about Paul Pogba if they makes negotiations incredibly difficult.

I'm not even adverse to the idea of Odion Ighalo being given a permanent deal, which is probably the line of the tweet causing the most controversy.

Yes, the whole 'Nigerian R9' narrative is tiresome, but Ighalo is a no-nonsense goal-scorer that wouldn't kick up a fuss about only playing in the cup competitions or coming on from the bench.

Andreas Pereira has been given plenty of chances to prove himself this season without success, so selling up seems logical and breaking up with Jesse Lingard makes sense for both parties.

As for Alexis Sanchez... I mean, duh, you did see him play for United, right?
