COVID-19 has been dominating worldwide news and discussion as of late, and it could end up affecting the wrestling world on the Road to WrestleMania.
We've already seen a major independent promotion affected today as Irish company Over The Top Wrestling have had to cancel their Scrappermania events this coming weekend.
But will WWE need to take the same measures?
"We remain committed to hosting WrestleMania at Raymond James Stadium on Sunday, April 5," a statement from WWE last week read. "And like other entertainment properties in the U.S., there are currently no plans to cancel or postpone our upcoming events.”
Things though have escalated since then, and later on today, the Mayor of Tampa - Jane Castor - will meet with city officials to discuss the possible postponement of WrestleMania, which is looking 'likely' according to WrestleVotes.
But what about the weekly shows like Raw and SmackDown?
PW Insider reported late last night that this Friday's episode of SmackDown from Detroit was going to be cancelled, and re-located to the WWE Performance Center in Orlando.
But in a big update, WWE moved to deny those claims, stating that the show would be going on as of publication in the Motor City.
However, they did indicate that 'contingency plans' are in place in case authorities do force WWE to postpone or cancel any shows at big arenas.
And it is thought that the Performance Center would be the location WWE chooses if it needs to make a desperate move.
The company would no doubt lose money, but the show must go on in the mind of Vince McMahon.
It wouldn't be the end of the world if Raw and SmackDown were cancelled until the spread of coronavirus decreases - after all, the health of the general public is by far the most important thing!
