Callum Hudson-Odoi releases video after testing positive for coronavirus

Callum Hudson-Odoi has released a video after becoming the first Premier League player to test positive for coronavirus.

In the early hours of Friday morning, Chelsea released a statement confirming their player has contracted the virus.

“Chelsea men’s team player Callum Hudson-Odoi had a positive test result for coronavirus returned this evening,” the statement read.

“Chelsea personnel who had recent close contact with the player in the men’s team building will now self-isolate in line with Government health guidelines.”

Later on Friday morning, Hudson-Odoi himself released a video claiming he’s now recovered.

“Hi guys, as you may be aware, I had the virus for the last couple of days which I’ve recovered from,” he said.

“I’m following the health guidelines and self-isolated myself from everybody for the week. I hope to see everyone soon and hopefully be back on the pitch very soon.”

It’s great to see him looking and sounding so well and seemingly fully recovered.

Late last night, Arsenal confirmed that their manager, Mikel Arteta, had also tested positive for coronavirus. Their match against Brighton this weekend was immediately postponed.

This morning, the Premier League will meet as they look to make a decision on what should be done.

Serie A and La Liga have both been postponed and it’s expected England’s top-flight will follow suit.

Where that leaves Euro 2020 is currently unknown with reports suggesting it could be delayed 12 months in order to allow European domestic leagues to finish over the summer.
