Liverpool have more reason than most to worry about the implications of the Premier League season being suspended.

With just two more wins needed to wrap up their first title in three decades, the 2019/20 campaign has been thrown into chaos due to the coronavirus crisis.

That said, Jurgen Klopp put it brilliantly when he released a statement on Friday in light of the league's decision.

"First and foremost, all of us have to do whatever we can to protect one another," Klopp said. "In society I mean. This should be the case all the time in life, but in this moment I think it matters more than ever.

"I’ve said before that football always seems the most important of the least important things. Today, football and football matches really aren’t important at all."

Liverpool's loss would be the greatest if the season were declared null and void, but in the meantime, they are in the same boat as the other 19 teams in the top flight.

However, in difficult times the club also has one of the greatest reputations for pulling together.

Per Times journalist Henry Winter, captain Jordan Henderson has now led the squad in pledging to help local food banks via the organisation 'Fans Supporting Foodbanks'.

"The players have committed to covering all of our shortfalls that we will incur as a result of not being able to hold our usual match day collections," FSF said.

"This isn't the first time that the Liverpool players have shown us this kind of support and, although what they've done on the pitch this season has been incredible, I'd argue that this kind of gesture is even more important, especially at a time like this."

Henderson's leadership on and off the pitch has been exceptional all season.

The midfielder's recent layoff served as a reminder of just how pivotal he is to this Liverpool team, but he continues to conduct himself in exemplary fashion away from football too.

Nobody deserves to lift the Premier League trophy more.
