WWE has reportedly sent out an email to their employees recommending them to work from home due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The coronavirus pandemic has already affected WWE, as they have been forced to move their Monday Night Raw and Friday Night SmackDown shows to their Performance Center in Orlando, and they’re being put on inside an empty arena.
The status of WrestleMania is still up in the air, but it will more than likely be postponed over the next few days in order to minimise the spread of the coronavirus.
Now, according to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, WWE is taking steps with its employees in order to limit the spread of the coronavirus within their own company.
Johnson has reported that WWE has sent out internal emails urging those capable of working from home to do so to help stop the spread of the coronavirus.
WWE has reportedly had different departments working remotely over the past week to test out how effective a remote working environment would be.
WWE will continue to do their bit to help stop the spread of the coronavirus tonight when Raw emits from their Performance Center in Orlando inside an empty arena.
According to the Wrestling Observer, via Cageside Seats, superstars have been told they don’t have to come to television tapings if they aren’t comfortable right now, and there will be no repercussions if they don’t.
Over the weekend, further pressure has been applied to WWE to either cancel or postpone WrestleMania 36, which is scheduled to take place at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa on April 5.
Vince McMahon is yet to cancel or postpone WrestleMania, and Tampa’s Hillsborough County has said if Vince doesn’t postpone WrestleMania soon, they may be forced to ‘pull the plug’ and do it for him for public safety reasons.
The CDC has released a statement recently as well giving guidance on mass gatherings that will affect WrestleMania, as they’ve recommended no gatherings of 50 people or more for the next eight weeks.
With WWE already reportedly taking steps to help stop the spread of the coronavirus pandemic amongst their own employees, it will likely be only a matter of time before they apply the same practice on WrestleMania and postpone the show until later this year at the earliest.
