For the past couple of years, there hasn’t been a Battle Royale game that’s knocked ‘Fortnite’ off the top spot.
However, ‘Call of Duty: Warzone’ might just be it.
Having already had 15 million players drop into the ‘Warzone’, ‘Call of Duty’ seemed to have really hit the nail on the head with their new game mode.
The free-to-play mode was released last Tuesday and is already well on its way to global gaming domination, as the official ‘Call of Duty’ Twitter account announced on Saturday that the Battle Royale had already surpassed the 15 million players mark.
What’s even more eye-opening is that in the first 24 hours of the game mode’s release, it attracted six million players, which is more than double the amount of Apex Legend’s record-breaking 2.5 million players on its first day of release, and looks like it will also break Apex Legend’s record of 25 million players in a week.
Despite the fact that the game mode has only just been released, developers Activision have already announced that they have plenty of plans in the works for the spin-off, with plenty of post-launch content to be expected.
The publisher issued a press release last week which stated: “Warzone is more than a new era for Call of Duty, it’s a game-changer for players and fans.
“We’re delivering two incredible modes of play within this massive world that take the experience to a new level.”
What makes this game mode so great is the ability to come back into the game after being killed, either through winning a 1v1 in the ‘Gulag’ or having one of your squad members paying for your redeployment.
At this current time, you can only play the game in squads of three, with the addition of duos and solos rumoured to be added at a later date.
