Hulk Hogan has taken some time to reminisce about his iconic match with The Rock at WrestleMania X8 from 18 years ago.

At WrestleMania X8 in 2002, Hulk Hogan and The Rock took part in an Icon vs Icon match at the SkyDome in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Hogan, as nWo’s Hollywood Hulk Hogan, lost the match after he was pinned by The People’s Champion in the middle of the ring.

However, the match is remembered by many wrestling fans, not because it was one of the greatest matches of all time, but because of the incredible atmosphere inside the arena as the match took place.

On his Facebook account, Hogan looked back on his match with The Rock, posting a full video of what happened in the SkyDome on that night in 2002.

The Hulkster said: "18 years ago today ( 3-17-02) one of the greatest Wrestlemania matches of all time went down at the SkyDome in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, the second WrestleMania at that venue (following WrestleMania VI in 1990). Attendance: 68,237 Date: March 17, 2002.”

Hogan’s nWo teammate Scott Hall also wrestled on the same night against Stone Cold Steve Austin, a match which The Texas Rattlesnake won.

There aren’t many matches in WrestleMania history that can match the same star-power as Hogan vs The Rock at WrestleMania X8.

The Icon vs Icon match didn’t even main event WrestleMania that year. That honour was given to the match between Chris Jericho and Triple H for the Undisputed WWF Championship.

Even Jericho himself has admitted in the past that while he was billed as the main event at WrestleMania X8, Hogan vs The Rock was the true main event that year, and he couldn’t follow that match.

Many people saw the match between Jericho and The Game as the best match of the night, but Hogan vs The Rock, Icon vs Icon, was the match everybody wanted to see.
