Who is the Premier League’s greatest ever captain?
Steven Gerrard is rightfully in the conversation but his claim is hurt by his failure to lead Liverpool to a Premier League title.
Wes Morgan doesn’t have as many trophies as some others but he’s one of only two men to skipper their side in every minute of every game in a title-winning campaign - and is the most unlikely man to ever lift the trophy.
John Terry, Vincent Kompany and Tony Adams all epitomised what it meant to be a leader and have the silverware and individual accolades to show for their efforts.
We can’t fail to mention Roy Keane either. The former Manchester United midfielder combined a ruthless attitude with a number of outstanding performances.
The debate could stretch on for hours and we now know Alan Shearer and Ian Wright’s thoughts after the pair had it out on the new Match of the Day: Top 10 podcast, hosted by Gary Lineker.
The ex-footballers ranked their top 10 captains of the Premier League era and there was certainly some controversy.
Wright initially had Liverpool icon Steven Gerrard down in eighth place, behind Leicester City's title-winning skipper Wes Morgan, before changing his mind at the last moment.
Both opted for different captains at No.1 as well. Let's take a look at their choices...

Shearer: "He was everything you wanted in a captain. He had the respect of managers, fans and players.
"He wasn't liked by other fans, but it didn't affect him - it probably spurred him on if anything, and he delivered."
Ian Wright:

Wright: "I loved Roy Keane. He was captain for so many years when Manchester United were absolutely dominating.
"He is exactly what you need as a captain. He wasn't someone everybody liked, but you don't need to like the captain. He led - and what it means on the pitch is what it is all about."
Lineker didn't list his entire top 10, but said he would go for Terry as No.1.
Shearer's decision to put Henderson ahead of Vidic is a brave one considering everything the Serbian centre-back achieved with the armband at Old Trafford.
