Liverpool confirmed Nike as their new official kit supplier back in January following months of speculation. The US sportswear giant signed a multi-year deal to supply the Reds’ kits, taking over from New Balance.Liverpool’s five-year partnership with New Balance is now coming to an end and the Premier League leaders will have a series of brand new Nike kits ready for the start of the 202/21 season.Fans have been speculating over what these kits might look like and expectations are obviously high. Quite a few concept kits have been designed and posted on social media over recent months.Nike have produced some fantastic looking jerseys for various clubs down the years and supporters have been eagerly-anticipating the first glimpse of the new kits. However, the same fans have been left bitterly disappointed (judging by the early reaction on Twitter and Reddit, anyway) after images of Liverpool’s new blue Nike away kit emerged online.

The kit - posted online by Footy Headlines - is an unusual teal (‘hyper turquoise’) colour with black logos and a black crew-neck colour, which is based on the current Nike template.

“As expected, Nike continues to use the Liverbird instead of the contemporary Liverpool FC crest,” Footy Headlines add. “A faint teal border was added to the black Standard Chartered logo to make it stand out more against the background.

“An abstract all-over graphic appears on the Nike Liverpool 2020-21 away football shirt, although we so far can only see the part at the top with the supplier, club and sponsor logos.”

This kit certainly won’t be to everybody’s taste - and the vast majority of responses we’ve seen so far have, unfortunately, been quite negative.

Here are just a few of the responses from Twitter…

And a few more from Reddit

However, there are a few fans who have seen the beauty in this design…

Nike will be desperately hoping that more fans warm to it as we approach the start of the 2020-21 campaign - whenever that might be!
