AEW news: Matt Hardy and Brodie Lee both made surprise AEW debuts on Dynamite last night

All Elite Wrestling’s roster just got a little bit more stacked following last night’s episode of Dynamite.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, AEW were forced behind closed doors at Jacksonville’s Daily’s Place despite originally planning to have the show in Rochester, New York.

Unlike WWE’s NXT though who produced a studio show last night with no wrestling, the in-ring action went on for AEW.

And you could definitely say that Tony Khan and co capitalised on WWE’s failure to put on any wrestling matches last night, as they debuted not one, but TWO stars who used to work under the guidance of Vince McMahon.

After weeks and weeks of teasing and rumours about ‘The Exalted One’ – the leader of the Dark Order faction – we have finally found out who the man behind it all really is, and that is Brodie Lee.

In his first vignette, Lee targeted veteran star Christopher Daniels and said he’s not the first ‘out of touch old man to not believe’ in him – which was a direct shot at McMahon for consigning Harper to the scrapheap.

Not only did he get a reveal vignette, but Lee appeared with the rest of the Dark Order to attack So Cal Uncensored, and left Daniels laying in the middle of the ring.

More than anything though, even though Brodie Lee and Luke Harper are different superstars, it’s very interesting to see him go from follower in the Wyatt Family to cult leader, and there’s no reason why he can’t dominate AEW for years to come.

But that wasn’t all, as a second debut came to close the show, and this one wasn’t much of a surprise at all.

With the Blood & Guts match coming next week between the Inner Circle and The Elite, the latter were a man down following the injury to Nick Jackson.

They needed to select a team-mate to replace Nick and they did so following Dynamite’s main event last night – and it came in the form of Matt Hardy.

The cross-overs on the Being The Elite and Free The Delete YouTube shows were a pretty telling sign that something was happening, and it’s official – Matt Hardy is BROKEN again!

We should be set for some interesting months ahead for AEW – whether there is a crowd of fans or not – and the additions of Hardy and Lee will only serve as a reminder that they are here to stay and compete with WWE.
