After criticising the National Women’s Soccer League’s use of words in their statement about coronavirus, Megan Rapinoe has taken to Instagram to show off how she is practising social distancing.

The NWSL released their statement at the beginning of this week, urging players to stay “remain in their respective markets” after they announced training for the upcoming league would be suspended until at least 22 March. The NWSL league is due to begin on 18 April.

Rapinoe reposted the NWSL statement adding that the league should not be telling their players to remain in their "markets" but their “APARTMENTS/ HOUSES!!! Practise social distancing. Don't be a vector.”

The United States government has issued advice to people across the country to socially distance and maintain distances of up to 6 feet to avoid contracting or spreading the virus.

The USWNT co-captain, Rapinoe, is using her social media channels to show her fans and supporters the methods she is using to keep herself busy whilst football is cancelled.

In a photo released on her Instagram page, Rapinoe told her fans to "Stay in ya damn home but also stay connected". She then added an Instagram story in which she revealed the unlikely way she is staying amused during this period of self-isolation.

"I woke up, I ate breakfast, I took a nap, I did a workout and now I have another really big thing on my agenda, it's time to play scrabble with my girl Alex."

SCRABBLE. Yes, that's right, World Cup and Ballon d'Or winning athlete Megan Rapinoe is playing Scrabble in quarantine. Well, I guess that only leaves one thing to do...
