It seems that Floyd Mayweather is to call off his scheduled fights for the time being, with the boxing legend telling people he will likely not fight in 2020.

This is news in the wake of the multiple personal tragedies and the coronavirus.

The 43-year-old was expected to fight on two occasions this year, one event involving the UFC and the other in the boxing ring against an established competitor.

However, sources close to Floyd have mentioned that Mayweather is reeling with the recent passing in the span of a week of his ex, Josie Harris, and his uncle, Roger Mayweather.

Returning to the ring in what would be his comeback year is the last thing on his mind and it is expected those potential bouts won’t be taking place.

Floyd has three children with Josie who died unexpectedly last week while in her car in front of her home in Valencia, CA where she was found by one of their children.

Roger was Floyd’s trainer and has been ill for a while. Floyd was extremely fond of him during the period of coaching him to be the boxer that he is today in which he has found it tough to come to terms that he’s gone.

Besides that, Floyd has also been crushed by the death of his old friend Kobe Bryant and also took that passing particularly hard, as the whole of the sporting world endured the basketball player’s death.

Floyd has been dealing with a great deal recently and for the 43-year-old, it would be extremely difficult for him to focus on a boxing comeback.

Along with the coronavirus pandemic still in full flow and with so many sporting events being cancelled or postponed, it’s unclear when Floyd would be able to secure a date in 2020 for a potential fight return.

Most importantly for Floyd, the situation is to remain close with his family, but in terms of boxing, he has been known to change his mind when it comes to major career decisions.

For now, Floyd’s head is not focussed on a comeback in 2020.
