Manchester United winger Nani has hailed the 'ugly win' against Bolton on Saturday.

The Red Devils appeared to be heading for a frustrating draw after Jonny Evans was sent off midway through the second period, but Dimitar Berbatov struck late to hand the red Devils a crucial win.

“If we want to win the league, we have to win games like that,” Nani told MUTV.

“It was a very important result. I’m pleased for us. We did so well in the final minutes and we won the game. The secret to scoring late goals is that we always play until the last minute. Today was the same.”

With Arsenal dropping points in the draw against West Brom, Sir Alex Ferguson's side took advantage and now lead the title race by five points.

Ferguson watched from the stands as his side fought to the end, and Nani believes the spirit his teammates showed after they were reduced to ten men will have pleased the Scot.

"The players were fantastic, especially after Jonny was sent off. I think we did very well," he continued to the official Manchester United TV channel.

“Bolton had an opportunity to create more problems for our defence [after Jonny was sent off] but we always think positively and want to attack. We always try to score.”

With the international break around the corner, some of United's injured players will have time to recuperate as the title charge gather pace again in a fortnight.

“We hope that when we come back from the international break all the squad will be ready. We need everybody for these final games.”
