Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez vs Billy Joe Saunders is a fight nearly every single boxing fan is desperate to see.

It's a clash of styles that's almost impossible to predict. On one side, you have the irresistible force that is Canelo, a ferocious combination of skill and power.

In the other corner, you have the man that many consider to be the finest scientific boxer in the both the middleweight and super middleweight divisions.

It really is a delicious recipe on paper and the fight was all set to be announced this week. The two world-class warriors were set to lock horns on Cinco de Mayo weekend in Las Vegas.

Sadly, the coronavirus outbreak crippling the world has brought a halt to pretty much all boxing and as such, the announcement of the fight has had to be postponed.

But the delay could play into the hands of British boxing fans. According to the Daily Mail, there is a serious chance that Canelo vs Saunders will be held in the UK in May 2021.

Canelo is all but certain to have his trilogy fight with Gennady Golovkin in September, which means the Saunders bout at super middleweight cannot be re-scheduled for June, July or August.

That would leave the Mexican too little time to slim down to middleweight and prepare for his Kazakh nemesis in what could be a career-defining fight.

So we could be getting two amazing fights and a UK debut from boxing's biggest superstar, it really is a win-win for the British.

Canelo is yet to fight outside of the US or Mexico, but given the rise in British boxing in the past few years, it seems only logical that the four-division world champ would bring his talents to Europe.

Once the Covid-19 pandemic subsides (which we pray is sooner rather than later) boxing fans will have an array of tasty fights to look forward to.
