Unfortunately, the coronavirus is spreading across the world at an alarming pace.

And it's caused the football season to come to a halt. All English football was originally postponed until April 3.

But, with the virus affecting more and more people, it was announced earlier this week that there will be no football in England until at least April 30.

That means that English football fans will go over a month before seeing action once again.

Due to there being no Premier League football last weekend, Match of the Day did not air.

Instead, Mrs Brown's Boys was shown instead to the horror of most football fans.

But have no fear, Match of the Day is set to return this weekend, despite there being no Premier League football to talk about.

So, what will they discuss on the show?

Gary Lineker, Ian Wright and Alan Shearer will discuss the greatest captains of the Premier League era in a new visualised version of the new MOTD podcast.

Lineker said of the task at hand, per the Mirror: “Pulling a top 10 together seems an easy task, but when you think back over the years, we soon found out it was quite a challenge – and one that sparked off many a debate.

“There’s so many amazing talking points in football, past and present, so it’s a pleasure to have Alan and Ian round my place to discuss these for the podcast. I might even provide lunch if we can agree on a few things.”

The show will air on it's usual Saturday night spot at 22:20 GMT.

That's the best news we've heard today. Seeing Lineker, Shearer and Wright on a Saturday night is the highlight of many people's weeks and it's great to see they will return to our screens.

We're glad BBC have realised their mistake and decided to air it instead of Mrs Brown's Boys...

And there's even more good news.

At 12:00 GMT, the BBC will air some of the best interviews and features from the season so far on Football Focus.

And at 16:00 GMT, Guy Mowbray unearths some memorable FA Cup quarter-final games, including Watford v Arsenal from 1987 and the 1978 match between West Bromwich Albion and Nottingham Forest.

At least there will be plenty of football to enjoy on BBC One this Saturday.
