Spanish newspaper Marca have attempted to entertain sports fans by conducting a rather interesting vote this week.

With pretty much all sport cancelled for the foreseeable future, Marca decided to generate some interest by asking fans to vote for the most talented sportsman at every age from 18-35.

They provided a few candidates from a variety of sports in each age category with every year group receiving more than 50,000 votes.

Of course, with it coming from a Spanish source, there may be a few names us British fans are not too familiar with.

So, let’s take a look at the results at each age-group:

18 years old

1st - Usman Garuba (Basketball) - 43%
2nd - Reinier (Football) - 21%
3rd - Jannik Sinner (Tennis) - 18%
=3rd - Lee Kang-in (Football) - 18%

Spanish basketball player Usman Garuba represents Real Madrid as a centre, standing at 6 ft 8 in. Last year at just 17, he became the youngest player to start for Real Madrid. He was named the MVP in the 2016 under 16 European Championship at just 14. He's set to conquer the NBA in the coming years.

19 years old

1st - Erling Haaland (Football) - 63%
2nd - Jadon Sancho (Football) - 31%
3rd - Coby White (Basketball) - 4%
4th - Felix Auger Aliassime (Tennis) - 2%

Erling Haaland beats Borussia Dortmund teammate Jadon Sancho to top-spot. He’s scored 40 goals in 33 appearances this season and appears destined for greatness.

20 years old

1st - Joao Felix (Football) - 37%
2nd - Fabio Quartararo (Motorcycle) - 30%
3rd - Armand Duplantis (Pole-vaulter) - 18%
4th - Remco Evenepoel (Cycling) - 15%

Joao Felix may not have had the best starts to his Atletico Madrid career but the youngster is the third most expensive player in football history, costing a crazy £113 million in the summer of 2019.

21 years old

1st - Luka Doncic (Basketball) - 59%
2nd - Kylian Mbappe (Football) - 37%
3rd - Stefanos Tsitsipas (Tennis) - 2%
4th - Tadej Pogacar (Cycling) - 1%
=4th - Juan Miguel Echevarria (Long jump) - 1%

Doncic must be talented to beat the incredible Mbappe. The Slovenian professional basketball plays for Dallas Mavericks in the NBA. He earned the Rookie of the Year for the 2018/19 season and was also selected to play in the NBA All-Star game.

22 years old

1st - Max Verstappen (Formula One) - 42%
2nd - Alexander Zverev (Tennis) - 31%
3rd - Frenkie De Jong (Football) - 22%
4th - Noah Lyles (Track and field) - 5%

Aged 17 in 2015, Verstappen became the youngest driver to compete in Formula 1. A year later, the Dutchman became the youngest ever winner of a Grand Prix, winning the Spanish GP. Racing for Red Bull Racing-Honda, he now has eight wins and 31 podiums to his name.

23 years old

The winner of the 2019 Tour de France, despite Team Sky using him to support lead rider, Geraint Thomas. The Colombian became the third youngest ever winner of the Tour.

Medvedev is ranked world No.5 and has seven career titles to his name. He reached the final of the US Open in 2019 but lost in four sets to Rafa Nadal.

Leonard led the San Antonio Spurs to the NBA Championship in 2014, where he was named the Finals MVP. In 2019, he did the same with Toronto Raptors, helping them win their first ever NBA championship as he picked up the Finals MVP again.

Without a doubt, the most competitive age category. LeBron James, who has won three NBA championships, four MVP's, three Finals MVP's, and two Olympic gold medals claims top spot. In second is five-time Ballon d’Or winner and one of the greatest footballers of all-time, Cristiano Ronaldo. Six-time Formula One World Champion, Lewis Hamilton, is third with the only person to run a sub-two hour marathon, Eliud Kipchoge in fourth.
