Brazilian superstar Neymar has given the green light on a potential move back to his former club Barcelona, less than a year after his failed attempts to secure a move away from Paris Saint-Germain.

According to Sport, Neymar has also rejected PSG’s offer of a new record-breaking contract to keep him at the Parc Des Princes, with the disgruntled 28-year-old stating on numerous occasions that his time in the French capital is coming to an end.

Having failed to secure his signature last summer following a long-drawn-out transfer saga, Barcelona are expected to reignite their interest and are prepared to do whatever it takes to bring the Brazilian back to Camp Nou.

The primary reason behind Barca’s renewed interest is the fact that Lionel Messi has shown a keen interest to play alongside his former colleague once again, and his contractual situation with the Catalonian giants means he has leverage over the club.

Barca tried and failed to bring Neymar back to Camp Nou last summer, failing with a series of player-plus-cash offers, before he eventually found himself resigned to staying in League 1.

After a controversial spell on the sidelines due to a rib injury, the Brazilian returned to the starting lineup and scored in a losing effort against Borussia Dortmund on March 11. The game was played behind closed doors due to the outbreak of COVID-19.

It’s been another injury-interrupted season for the megastar, who has netted an impresive 13 goals in just 14 League 1 appearances, however, the PSG Ultras have started to turn against the 28-year-old given his inability to remain healthy for a full season.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Quique Setien’s side will offer up Phillipe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele in an attempt to turn the tide in their favour and secure a deal.

If PSG don’t go for that, it is expected that Barca will shop around the pair in an attempt to recoup the cash to go after Neymar.

Chelsea are a potential destination for Coutinho, who is currently on loan at Bayern Munich. Dembele is sure to attract numerous suitors given his natural talent, but reports of a lack of discipline with his diet and routine off the pitch may scare clubs away given his hefty price tag.
